What is a memory care community?

A memory care community provides specialized care from a staff of well-trained senior care professionals for those diagnosed with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia. Memory care communities offer a safe and secure environment catered to the personalized care of each resident to enhance his or her quality of life.

How long have your memory care living communities been in business?

Fox Trail Senior Living and Raydian Properties started operations in 2007 with our original memory care living communities. Since then, Memory Care Living® has grown into our current network of multiple unique and individual homes. We are currently planning for several new homes throughout the New Jersey area.

What makes your communities different from other care options?

Do the communities have private bedrooms?

Yes. All of our memory care living NJ communities are designed with individual bedrooms to provide senior residents with as much privacy as possible. Each room contains basic bedroom furniture, such as bed and dresser, as well as beddings and linens. Families are encouraged to also add familiar items from home.

Should I put a TV in my loved one's room?

Our residents can choose to have a TV or radio in their room. However, we encourage our residents to leave their personal TVs at home and to socialize with the other residents throughout the community living room.

How can I be involved with a resident's care?

We believe you should be involved in every way in which you feel comfortable at Fox Trail Memory Care Living. Every family member handles the stress of memory care differently and it is important for you to decide what is best for your relationship, as well as your personal well-being. Rest assured that we will support you every step of the way.

Do your communities offer daily activities for residents?

Yes. All of our memory care living NJ communities offer many daily activities designed and delivered by our activity coordinator to meet your loved one's specific needs. Through our compassionate and attentive memory care, we enable each resident to experience as many daily achievements as possible.

At what times do residents have to eat?

Meals, snacks and beverages are served family style. A nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner are offered at normal mealtimes. Moreover, we try to respect and support the lifestyle that each resident may have practiced for a lifetime. For example, "late risers" and "early risers" can eat breakfast at differing times. Although our care professionals encourage each resident to eat his or her meal with the other residents, we can accommodate special circumstances and any unique dietary needs as prescribed by the resident’s doctor.

Does Fox Trail Memory Care Living have specific visiting hours?

Since this is your loved one's home, family and friends are welcomed to visit during normal hours on any day of the week. We do ask that you show full respect for all of the residents in our community, as it is their home too.

What if the resident likes to wander?

Wandering among seniors with any form of memory loss is common. At Fox Trail Memory Care Living communities, wandering is monitored but not discouraged as such. Moreover, our care professionals are trained to address each situation individually and provide personalized solutions. For example, a resident who wants to "go home" doesn't need to be corrected. Instead, our staff member will reassure them that they are safe and will be staying here tonight. In addition, our communities are designed with hallways that feed back into the common areas to facilitate safe wandering.

Can my loved one walk around at night if he or she can't sleep?

Absolutely. We all have restless nights and our staff respects your loved one's need to get up and walk. Since our care professionals are continuously trained in the handling of unique needs of seniors residents with Alzheimer's or other forms of dementia, we will help determine if the restlessness is a patterned behavior related to his or her memory loss. If so, any concerns will be discussed with the family and the resident's doctor.

What amenities and services do you offer?

We are proud to offer comprehensive amenities and services including 24-hour onsite care, community security system, home cooked meals and snacks cooked daily, wellness and exercise programs, recreational activities, help with medication management, social areas, walking paths and more.

Is the memory care community secure? What happens if a resident wanders away?

Each memory care living NJ community is equipped with a non-threatening, state of the art security system. Our outdoor spaces are protected by a secured, alarmed picket fence. Additionally, every door and window at each community is protected by an audible alarm that alerts staff and our security company when an unaccompanied resident attempts to wander outside the home or open the window.

How often are housekeeping and laundry service provided?

Once every two weeks each resident’s room is deep cleaned, as well as on an as needed basis. Additionally, once a week, we provide laundry services.

Cost?

Don't know where to begin... I was at my lowest point in my life with regards to the my mother and her debilitating condition. I was at the end of my rope and desperate for a solution to the care of my mother. I tried daycare providers who were OK but my mother wasn't having it. The problems only compounded during the hours care providers were not in the home and the issues that came along with scheduling and assurances for a standard of care between the numerous folks that saw to my mother. The LAST thing I wanted to do was to move my mother out of the house that I grew-up in. I made inquires about Memory Care Living and other facilities. Thanks to Cindy Phillips for her persuasiveness and tenacity that brought me in the door. Cindy did a great job at "selling" the situation to me and everything she said has come to fruition. Great job! But it doesn't stop there... Kerry [removed] and her staff are miracle workers. The LAST thing that my mother wanted to do when I first brought her to "the home" was to stay! Kerry and her folks worked with my mother to a tireless level (and still do) to the point now that my mother doesn't want to leave!! My mother loves the programs the house provides, especially the singing sessions that they have. She now participates in assisting other residents less fortunate than her in additional to assisting staff with simple tasks. Bottom line... MY MOTHER IS HAPPY!! I trust Kerry and her staff implicitly with my mother's minute to minute care, health and welfare, no questions asked. Kerry is always available to speak or comment on my mother's situation either by phone or text messages. I have seen Kerry at the house well after her "9 to 5" day is done during the week AND on weekends. I can't say enough about these folks and the appreciation and respect I have for them The facility is maintained with a high level of cleanliness and maintenance at all times and it is secure. The food preparation is spot-on and fresh; 3 times a day and it actually looks and tastes "like real food." Sincere thanks to Cindy, Kerry and the staff at Memory Care Living!! Now I can sleep at night...
